OPERATION RIVER TRIP!

Cindy Halliburton - Wednesday, September 24, 2008

In the spirit of inter-office bonding and some good ol’ fashioned adventure, 8 members of the Halliburton Team set out for Dingman’s Ferry, PA to canoe down the Delaware River.

After a 5:30 wake up call, 1 ½ hour drive and an 18 mile bus ride, wewere ready to roll down the river. After loading up 4 canoes with clothes, food, drink and tents and such, we pushed offthe banks just in time for a thunder storm. With a little help from strong boysand Miller Lite, we made it 13 miles to our unmarked campsite just as the sunwent down and the rain stopped. We set up our tents and got ready to celebrate the ceasing of rain by firing up the grill for Jesse specialty burgers and greyhounds…and then the rain came again. It didn’t stop us. We powered through and woke up to the most glorious of days that began with very strong coffee and egg burritos, a la Jesse. Needless to say, our primitive and Port-o-John-lesscampsite left us all just a little bit closer to one another! After hanging outfor the morning and dipping in the river using Bill Kelly’s unique technique offloating in very shallow water, we pushed off for the rest of our trip. We hadno idea how far we had to go, for at the time, we had no idea just how far wehad gone the day before. No matter. The sun was shining and we were ready torow. It was just a short 5 miles to the campsite where we parked. The only snag along the way was Stephanie losing her ring in the river. Luckily, Bill Kelly miraculously dove down 5 feet in a running river and found it on the first try!

We finished tired and happy, a few of us ready to camp an extra night! Until next time….

A Gastronomist's Oasis

Cindy Halliburton - Thursday, July 24, 2008

Our world of real estate is one of long hours catering to the needs of our customers who come home after a hard days work in the greater New York and New Jersey area. Therefore, eating at a reasonable hour can be challenging for us at times.  Sobsey’s Market, just around the corner from our new office on 1st street, is the answer to this dilemma.

In the oversized world of value-packs and surplus shopping (Super-Shop Rite, BJ’s & Costco), it’s rare to find a friendly neighborhood market like Sobsey’s with superior quality products and service. A feast for the senses, this delectable market caters to your every need. Michael Sobsey personally selects the fresh fruits and vegetables that decorate the cozy space. Whether its ¼ wild strawberries from New York State, bushels of arugula from New Jersey, flounder caught from a day boat on Long Island, French butter with fleur de sel or natural poultry from a family farm, Sobsey’s has it all. Have a question on how to prepare your broccoli rabe? No problem, Just ask Mack. He is a wealth of knowledge on how to prepare almost anything in the store. He even hand-delivered my groceries to me at work with complimentary crisp, organic grapes for me to snack on. That’s good ol’ fashioned service. Not to mention my dinner was served by 8 pm.

This Mom and Pop shop makes grocery shopping feel like an art form. Sobsey’s is a gem that shines far beyond the rest. Stop by and see Michael and Mack…you’ll be addicted.

State of the Market

It could be argued that, like the rest of the United States, Hoboken has begun falling on hard times. But people that live around here certainly don't think so.  Maybe you're a little jealous of this guy, but a look at some of the latest numbers from Trulia show a market that remains surprisingly stable...

...despite what the national press my be saying.
So don't go making all your decisions based on the nightly news. You just might miss out on finding your dream home.
